I don't know if you could guess that the name of my blog is called after Marina and the Diamonds. The first time I ever heard of her was in 2009 with 'Hollywood'. The song was a little bit to much for me, especially the music video. I thought Marina was an another bimbo, pop singer and didn't paid much attention to her. My friend N. was in love with the song and at one point I also was addicted. I decided to search the lyrics and was amazed by the content of ´Hollywood´. I discovered more songs and found out that all her songs had a message. Now in 2011 I still listen to her songs and her new album is just out. I will always have a weak spot for her.
Here are some Marina quotes from her songs:
'' Puking American dreams, I'm obsessed...''
''I feel numb most of the time''
''Do I need to lie to make my way in life?''
''I lived allot if different lives, been different people many times''
''We've all got our obsessions''
''Better to be hated then to be loved for what you're not''
''Hollywood infected your brain''
''There's no crime in being kind, not everyone is out to screw you over''
''Are you satisfied with an avarage life''
''I never say a word in case I come off neady''
' I got dark only to shine''
''Don't need money don't need fame, I just wanna make a change''
'' The sleep is not my friend''
''Champagne, savor the taste of fabricated wealth''
'' Your possessions will posses you. Tv taught us how to feel now real life has no appeal''

WE USED TO WAIT// ARCADE FIRE
Again a song that deserves a post. I can listen to the music from Arcade Fire all day long, I never get bored. In the future there will be a blog all dedicated to Arcade Fire :) but for know, 'We used to wait'.
The lyrics:
I used to write I used to write letters I used to sign my name I used to sleep at night Before the flashing lights settled deep in my brain But by the time we met The times had already changed So I never wrote a letter I never took my true heart I never wrote it down So when the lights cut out I was left standing in the wilderness downtown
Now our lives are changing fast Hope that something pure can last
It seems strange How we used to wait for letters to arrive But what's stranger still Is how something so small can keep you alive We used to wait We used to waste hours just walkin around We used to wait All those wasted lives in the wilderness downtown
Ooooo we used to wait Sometimes it never came Ooooo we used to wait Sometimes it never came Ooooo we used to wait Still moving through the pain
I'm gonna write a letter to my true love I'm gonna sign my name Like a patient on a table I Wanna walk again Gonna move through the pain
Now our lives are changing fast Hope that something pure can last
Ooooo we used to wait Sometimes it never came Ooooo we used to wait Sometimes it never came Ooooo we used to wait Still moving through the pain
We used to wait for it Now we're screaming Sing the chorus again
I used to wait for it Hear my voice screaming Sing the chorus again
''There certain people who aren't meant to fit in your life. No matter how much you want them to.''
''At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart but not in your life.''
''-That awkward moment-
When you've already said ''what'' three times and still have no idea what the person said, so you just agree''
''Street culture is the collision of ideas, rooted in the moment -music, art, design- little gangs huddled together at the start of their live journey. Young minded starving angels...''
''Never regret anything because at one point it was exactly what you wanted''
''Better to be hated than loved for what you're not''
'' I get dark only to shine''
''Oure possessions will posses us. TV taught us how to feel and now real life has no appeal''
